The Republicans Take On Health Care — And It Won’t Be Easy:

Republican lawmakers finally unveiled a plan to repeal major portions of Obamacare on Monday night, capping years of attacks against the health care law and a months-long debate that exposed deep rifts within the GOP.

Now comes the hard part.

House Republican leaders must begin in earnest the tough task of selling the new plan to overhaul America’s health care system to colleagues in both chambers on Capitol Hill, where there is a myriad of clashing interests. And they will have to convince a skeptical public it’s worthwhile, just seven years after Congress passed the Affordable Care Act

Study: Black People More Likely To Be Wrongfully Convicted:

All Marvin Anderson ever wanted to be was a firefighter. Instead, at 18 years old, he was wrongfully convicted of rape, sodomy, abduction and robbery.

When a Virginia judge sentenced him to 210 years in prison, “My whole body went numb,” Anderson told CNN. “I knew I was going to prison for something I didn’t do.”
It took 15 years behind bars and five years on parole before Anderson was exonerated for his crimes — the result of DNA testing.

ESPN Layoffs To Hit On-Camera Personalities:

ESPN will lay off some of the personalities who appear on TV, radio and online.

The cuts will only affect “talent” — not rank-and-file employees, according to sources familiar with the matter.

The details are still being finalized, but layoffs are expected to take place through June.

No announcement has been made about which personalities will be affected, but it seems those with contracts up for renewal may be cut first.

ESPN may also buy out some contracts that aren’t ending soon, according to sources.

Kate T. Parker’s daughters like to bike, swim and get muddy. Parker wanted them to know that their love of what they do and their strength makes them beautiful.

Traveling the country, she discovered even more versions of strength: girls fighting cancer and standing up to bullies in the lunchroom; female football players and ballet dancers whose powers could rival a superhero’s.
“Strong, to me, is facing something that scares you and doing it anyway. Courage isn’t the absence of fear. It is being afraid and doing it anyway,” Parker said.

Lewd Photos Of Female Marines Spark Probes, Consternation:

US Marine Corps officers on Monday huddled on how to proceed with tackling a new and shocking scandal: the online posting of potentially hundreds of explicit photos of current and former female Marines and other service members on a private Facebook page.

So far, at least one person has been disciplined in connection with the postings, a US military official said. He was an IT subcontractor working for a firm with a support contract for the Marines.
The Marines informed the primary contractor of the person’s actions and he has been barred from working on any contracts in support of Marines, the official said. The man committed “misdeeds,” the official said, but there were no details about precisely what he did.
