A Taiwanese commercial flight with 53 passengers aboard clipped a bridge shortly after takeoff and crashed into a river in Taipei.

Taiwan’s Central News Agency said at least 10 people were being taking to safety after the incident but gave no immediate information about the other passengers and crew aboard the TransAsia Airways flight.

The Taiwan aviation authority later said two people died in the crash.

Taiwanese media posted pictures of the plane in the water several dozen meters (yards) from the shore in the Keelung River. The photos showed rescuers with ropes pulling people from the half-submerged fuselage.

BBC is reporting that there were 50 on board, with 10 injuries and no fatalities. Some reports said there were several people trapped inside the plane in need of rescue.
