National recording artist Melinda Watts will share her girl-centric empowerment workshop, Dream Girlz Gathering, on April 28th from 9am to 3pm at Garfield Memorial Church (3650 Lander Road, Pepper Pike, OH). The traveling event offers a “safe space” for girls 8-18 to be open & honest, while receiving the love, training and support they need.
A full day of events, Watts offers mentoring and training to tween and teen girls who aspire to be future leaders. She offers a life changing experience as girls are inspired and uplifted to reach their greatest potential. At the Conference, girls attend workshops that focus on leadership, violence prevention, HIV/AIDS awareness, and building healthy self-esteem. Melinda is joined by an all-star cast of panelists and speakers as she pulls on many of her peers to contribute to the young lives. Along with Melinda, speakers will include recording artist Jai, radio and media personality, Neechy, and young author and minister, Prophetess Kelly Crews.
The high-energy conference was birthed out of Melinda’s passion for youth, particularly young women who grapple with unique pressures. A former high school teacher, Watts is best known for winning the Gospel singing competition, the Gospel Dream; advancing into a busy musical career and soon becoming one of the most sought after contemporary singers and songwriters within the genre.
Melinda is currently working on her sophomore album and is more determined than ever to utilize her platform to uplift youth. “Music is the gateway to many people and I use my voice to share a message of hope and encouragement to these young girls.”
The Dream Girlz Gathering is an official partner of the United Nations “Girl Up” program and the conference travels internationally throughout the year.
Mothers are also encouraged to attend and tickets are available for $20 each. For more information please visit http://www.melindawatts.com/conferences.
